On Wednesday, June 10, Whoopi Goldberg announced that Raven Symone will be officially joining "The View" as a permanent new co-host.
Following her 37 appearances as guest co-host on "The View," many viewers of ABC's talk show were already anticipating the news for a long time. However, the "That's So Raven," star admitted the official announcement came as a surprise.
"I learned two seconds before that I didn't get to come out first like I normally did so right then, I was a little flustered and then I came out and they had my song on and then I broke it down like it was hot, but then I had this really short skirt on."
Following the live episode Raven joked to E! News, "so I was hoping that my grandma and my mom wouldn't have to call and say 'close your legs girl.'
It seems like whether some call it a refreshing perspective or some may not even understand it just yet, Raven is all set to share her truth in front of a large crowd every morning.
Raven confessed, "I definitely have a different lifestyle than a lot of people in this world-good and bad-and my views are different than one might think my views might be because I've never really spoken my truth until recently. Hopefully I can shed some light on what I like to call the truth."
"Some people might not agree with me and some people will but we know how to talk to each other in a respectful way so that everybody gets their point across and there's no cutthroat conversation," she added.
Raven recalled about coming on the program for the first to promote her Disney Channel movie "The Cheetah Girls," when she was just 15-year-old, New York Post noted.
"I'm happy to be sitting with smart, talented mentors," Raven, who replaces Rosie O'Donnell, said.
O'Donnell left "The View" in February in order to focus on her family following her split with her wife of three years, Michelle Rounds.
