Looks like Homer and Marge are getting a divorce in the upcoming season of "The Simpsons."

After an executive producer for "The Simpsons," noted that Homer and Marge will legally separate in the upcoming Season 27 of the hit American animated sitcom, there is a minor outrage on the Internet.

News that Homer will fall for a pharmacist, played by Lena Dunham, and breaking his marriage with Marge has stirred conversations on the internet. But the news of a fictional marriage breaking is not as upsetting as the fact that it's all been done before, The Verge noted.

Homer becomes the manager of a beautiful young country singer in the third season. The Songstress ends up making moves on her father figure. Nevertheless, the balding dad of Bart, Lisa and Maggie returns to Marge, the person he loved all along. Homer has a few more episodes like this, in which a guest star finds him attractive, in whatever strange way, but the Simpson clan all end the same with Homer and Marge together forever.

But that's not the only case, Homer files for divorce in season eight's "A Milhouse Divided." Milhouse's dad Kirk Van Houten sings, "Can I Borrow a Feeling," in a futile attempt to save his marriage. The episode ends up with Homer separating from Marge, but then remarrying her in the presence of their friends.

However, the second marriage was invalid and in the 20th season's "Wedding for Disaster," Homer and Marge must marry again as they find out that Reverend Lovejoy's ministerial certification had expired before their wedding 12 seasons before.

This implies, Homer and Marge were unmarried almost as long as they have been married during the run of "The Simpsons."

For fans looking forward for another "Simpsons" movie, Executive producer Al Jean suggests it won't be happening anytime soon, according to records on CNN Philippines.

"The movie was such a time-intensive operation, it pulled a lot away from the show," Jean said.

He continued, "I would rather end the show whenever that happens before doing another movie. It's unlikely there'll be another Simpsons feature while the show is being produced."
