Micromax introduced a new smartphone to its Canvas series without any announcement about the launch, however the phone is available online for Rs. 11,736 (about $280).
Micromax recently listed Canvas Fire 3 A096 on its official site, adding another device to its range of budget smartphones. The Canvas Fire 3 is available online via a third party retailer - and now India's popular handset maker is geared up to launch a new Canvas-series smartphone dubbed the Canvas Hue 2.
According to a retailer based in Mumbai, India, Micromax has launched the Canvas Hue 2 in physical retail stores. According to the retailer, The Canvas Hue 2 has been priced at (MOP) Rs. 12,499 (about $195), however according to reports from NDTV Gadgets, the MRP of the handset is Rs. 17,999 (about $280).
The Canvas Hue 2 (A316) is a Dual-SIM phone that runs the slightly old Android 4.4.2 KitKat out-of-the-box. Hue 2 boasts a 5-inch HD (720x1280 pixels) Amoled display. Powered by a 1.7GHz quad-core MediaTek (MT6582) processor, the handset comes with 2GB of RAM. If reports from the retailer are anything to go by, the smartphone is backed by an octa-core processor clocked at 1.7GHz.
In terms of storage, the smartphone has a 16GB of inbuilt storage, further expandable up to 32GB using a microSD card. The Canvas Hue 2 features a 13MP rear camera with LED flash and a 5MP secondary camera, according to Gizbot.
As far as connectivity is concerned, the Canvas Hue 2 comes with Bluetooth options, MicroUSB, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, GPRS, EDGE, and 3G.
The smartphone packs a massive 2000mAh battery, which according to the eBay India listing is rated to deliver up to 7 hours of talk time and up to 205 hours of standby time. In addition, the smartphone also packs sensors including proximity sensor, magnetometer, ambient light sensor, and accelerometer.
