"Paranormal Activity: The Ghost Dimension," the upcoming sixth installment in the Paranormal Activity series will be the last in the supernatural horror film franchise, producer Jason Blum confirmed.
Blum told USA Today, "It's coming to an end. This is it, the finale," he added, "We're saying it before the movie opens. We're not going to grind this horror franchise into the ground. This will keep Paranormal Activity as part of this culture and this particular time in a really fantastic way."
However, Blum assured that the final film in the franchise will answer plenty of questions that occurred earlier during the original film's release in 2009.
"We couldn't go just teasing," Blum noted. "All the questions that everyone has asked from the past Paranormal Activity films: What does Toby look like? What's the backstory to the families? These questions have been teased out. Now they will be answered."
According to reports on IGN, Blum noted that a reboot has not been planned yet; however he admits that the franchise may return in the future, but for now this is the end.
Distributor Paramount Pictures released the first image and teaser of "Paranormal Activity: The Ghost Dimension."
While one of the photographs gives an idea about how to set foot in to "the ghost dimension," as it features a portal opening in the wall of a little girl's room, another photograph gives a look at the little girl named Leilali Bhog (Ivy George), whose eyes are completely blacked-out.
The photograph also gives a sneak peek at Leilali Bhog in the room with her father, Ryan (Chris J. Murray), while there is a reflection of a woman in the mirror who is probably a ghost.
The 19-second teaser, on the other hand features Leila facing a mirror when it suddenly cracks. Leilali Bhog says something in strange words that turn out to be "Bloody Marry Me."
"The Ghost Dimension" centers on a family who moves into a house only to discover a video camera and a box of tapes which contains the recording of paranormal activity around them.
"Paranormal Activity: The Ghost Dimension" is directed by Gregory Plotkin, and is slated to arrive in US theatres on Oct. 23.
