Fans of Tom Cruise are surely excited for the "Top Gun"sequel reportedly in the works.
The Guardian reported that Tom Cruise will reprise his role as star fighter pilot Maverick in the "Top Gun" sequel the story of which would likely to revolve around "culture clash between old school aviation and the new generation of unmanned drones."
During a junket to promote "Terminator: Genisys in Berlin," David Ellison of production company Skydance updated the press about the production of Tom Cruise's upcoming movie.
"Justin Marks is writing the screenplay right now," Ellison reportedly said. "He has a phenomenal take to really update that world for what fighter pilots in the Navy has turned into today."
"There is an amazing role for Maverick in the movie and there is no 'Top Gun' without Maverick, and it is going to be Maverick playing Maverick. It is I don't think what people are going to expect, and we are very, very hopeful that we get to make the movie very soon. But like all things, it all comes down to the script."
With a "Top Gun" sequel deal under the belt amid promotions and production for his other new movies, it seems that Tom Cruise may have a lot on his plate right now. However, the Hollywood A-lister doesn't seem to mind, especially since he is rumored to be inspired by his assistant Emily, who looks a lot like Katie Holmes.
"We aren't quite sure why Tom Cruise would want to work with someone who looks identical to Katie Holmes," Celeb Dirty Laundry speculated. "But maybe Cruise is trying to recreate an image of his ex-wife Katie Holmes to fill some sort of void that he is feeling."
Emily has reportedly assisted Tom Cruise in the set of "Mission: Impossible 5." The actor reportedly got Emily as his set assistant again in his upcoming movie, "Mena," according to Inquisitr.
