The news reports regarding a possible Jeremy Lin trade have been on overdrive as Dallas Mavericks and Chicago Bulls were identified as among those interested in the services of the Los Angeles Lakers point guard.
Los Angeles Lakers reporter Mark Medina tweeted on July 1, "I'm told Jeremy Lin fielding interest from Dallas, Memphis, Indiana, Chicago, San Antonio, Clippers & even the Lakers."
"The odds of Lin returning to the Lakers appeared even more unlikely after selection Ohio State point guard D'Angelo Russell with the No. 2 pick of the 2015 NBA Draft. That would cement Lin as a third-string point guard," he wrote.
"Although he has downplayed the importance of starting or coming off the bench, Lin considers it a priority to join on a team where he both feels comfortable in the offense and plays a significant role."
On July 4, Medina tweeted, "I'm told there's some "active conversations" regarding Jeremy Lin's free agency options. Likely something will finalize early next week."
The ESPN trade news also claimed that the Dallas Mavericks are interested in Jeremy Lin, who averaged 11 points and four assists, along with two rebounds under coach Byron Scott last season.
The report continued, "Lin's relationship with Mavericks forward Chandler Parsons from their days as teammates in Houston, sources said, has kept Dallas in the race despite its lack of financial flexibility. Parsons, of course, had a huge hand in the recruiting of DeAndre Jordan to the Mavericks in the richest free-agent score in team history."
The Dallas Mavericks just let go of firebrand Rajon Rondo, who signed on to join the Sacramento Kings, after a failed experiment with the Texas ballclub. So it makes sense for Los Angeles Lakers' Jeremy Lin to fill the void.
