Supporters of Nina's on-screen romance with Ian Somerhalder were especially devastated over her departure, which came a few months after Ian Somerhalder and Nikki Reed announced their engagement.
"She was just looking forward to moving on with no hard feelings and no drama. This is taking the personal out of it completely, from a storytelling point of view it's a great challenge. As writers in the room, we're finding it very rejuvenating. Just on a strictly creative exercise level," Plec said in an interview in May, as quoted by Hollywood Life.
Fans may have been waiting for a long time for update stories about Nina Dobrev's career after leaving "The Vampire Diaries." Up until now, there is no update about a new TV series that she could be working on, or possibly, a movie deal.
