Oppo is all set to introduce its new smartphone, the A51, to the market sooner than later.
The Oppo A51 was certified on TENAA last month and if a new report is anything to go by, the device is all set to go on sale within a couple of weeks.
Some new pictures and some pricing information of the Oppo A51 have leaked out. Oppo will take the wraps off its A51 sometime in the next couple of weeks, and the phone will be priced at the equivalent of $273 USD, according to those familiar with the Chinese smartphone manufacturer's plans.
According to records on PhoneArena, the Oppo A51 features a 5-inch 720x1280 resolution screen. That works out to a pixel density of 294ppi. The phone is powered by the Snapdragon 410 SoC, and contains a quad-core CPU and the Adreno 306 GPU. It comes with 2GB of RAM inside and 16GB of native storage. It features an 8 mega pixel camera on back, and a 5 megapixel snapper in front.
A 2420mAh battery keeps the generator humming. The device runs Android 5.1 with Color OS 2.1 running on top.
As far as connectivity options are concerned, the Oppo A51 includes 4G LTE, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, microUSB, as well as dual SIM support, GSMArena noted. The phone features glass on its front and back as well.
The hardware specs don't look quite impressive for a $274 device in mid-2015, particularly in an extremely competitive market like that of China's. It remains to be seen if the rumoured price-tag hold up until the device is made official. There is also a possibility that Oppo has something special up its sleeve. As for the smartphone, most devices with similar hardware sell for under $100 in China even from recognized multi-national manufacturers such as Lenovo. Judging by this, it looks like Oppo will have to get its pricing sorted out before launching the A51.
