Jeremy Lin is off to another fresh start in Charlotte Hornets, despite the Linsanity tag reportedly holding down the former Los Angeles Lakers point guard.

Jerry Stephens wrote for the Charlotte Hornets' fan site that Jeremy Lin might exceed expectations next year when he dons on the new uniform.

And he might even compete for the sixth man of the year award, considering that for the past 10 years, the plum has gone to a guard nine times.

"Most of them have been shooting guard but with the role that Lin is going to play next season it seems as though he will be more of a scoring point guard off the bench rather than a traditional passing point guard," he wrote.

"That's not to say that he can't pass because he will definitely average over 5-6 assists per game, which will only help his campaign for sixth man of the year."

He said that Byron Scott's offense didn't really fit Jeremy Lin's style which is why he was having a hard time finding his rhythm, unlike the Charlotte Hornets' pick-and-roll-centric offense.

"I could see Lin averaging 13-16 points per game and 6-8 assists per game if everything goes right for him and he gets the minutes that he should get with the team," the article added.

Meanwhile, Hoops Habit pointed out that the league wasn't quite ready when a point guard from nowhere was making mincemeat of the defenses to average nearly double-double in points and assists for the New York Knicks.

Jeremy Lin became the media darling and the brief era was dubbed as Linsanity.

But the former Los Angeles Lakers point guard just couldn't quite replicate his play while in New York and that has been a boon in the career of Jeremy Lin.

"Is the shadow of Linsanity going to follow him again? As strange as it sounds, the best thing for him and his career might have been to disappear during his stint with the Lakers. With only 21 wins, the Lakers were irrelevant in a hyper-competitive Western Conference," the article said.
