The WWE has cut ties with Hulk Hogan after using the n-word in describing somebody his daughter was dating. But the lawyer for the wrestling legend claimed that he wasn't fired, but rather he quit.

The WWE confirmed the news about Hulk Hogan being fired in a statement which read, "WWE terminated its contract with Terry Bollea (aka Hulk Hogan). WWE is committed to embracing and celebrating individuals from all backgrounds as demonstrated by the diversity of our employees, performers and fans worldwide."

"TMZ has seen the tape ... and on it, Hogan is discussing his daughter Brooke's music career. He repeatedly used the n-word while talking about an African-American guy she was dating," the report said. "Hogan's attorney tells TMZ ... Hulk claims he was NOT fired, and actually resigned from the WWE late Thursday night."

To make matters worse, the WWE also delisted Hulk Hogan from its websites, particularly in the Hall of Fame page. Also, all merchandise items relating to the wrestler have also been removed.

According to Fox News, the whole controversy started when a 2012 tape of Hulk Hogan's interview with DJ Whoo Kidd on hi Whoolywood Shuffle where the wrestler repeatedly uttered the n-word.

In the interview, the host asked him if any black guy has called him, "Yo, you my n----r, you my n----r Hulk, just like the wrestling legend's tendency to call somebody "brother."

Hulk Hogan apparently responded, "Well Booker T used to say that to me on TV and you know, every time I pull up YouTube there's that famous thing that Booker T...goes, 'I'm coming for you my n----r."

"They're all calling me n----r and then I started saying it and you know, I always said it but now all of a sudden I get heat when I said it," he added.
