A sultry new jam "No Sleeep" marked the return of Janet Jackson on Friday, July 24, as the pop icon makes her resurrection after five long years from her last album.
Janet's last tour was four years back. But it's 2015 and the "Rhythm Nation" singer is unquestionably back. Janet's world tour and eleventh studio album was announced on Friday, July 24 as she took the wraps off her first video for a song off her upcoming album, Time noted.
Janet's new song, "No Sleeep" (spelled with an extra "e") features J. Cole.
Jackson took to her Twitter on Friday, July 24 addressing her 3.17 million followers.
"I hope u enjoy watching this as much as we enjoyed making it," Janet tweeted, "#NoSL333P @JColeNC
"No Sleeep" is a sensuous slow jam that shows Janet sitting tight in a plush home. The "All for You" singer has no doubt made a smart choice by collaborating with J. Cole for her comeback single.
Jackson's relaxed, sensual vibes refreshes memory of her early 90s singles such as "That's the Way Love Goes."
In the four-and-a-half-minute clip, Janet is seen singing and dancing around the house all by herself. Somewhere midway through the clip, she is seen in an all-white room sitting next the uber-cool rapper, Jack Cole.
J. Cole multiplies and is seen all over the house as he raps some new bars.
The upcoming track "No Sleeep" marks Janet's first adult video offering and it is produced by Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis. Jackson's upcoming album also marks the singer's first studio effort since 2008's "Discipline" and it is expected to release this fall, according to records on CBS News.
Some of the video's creative choices, specifically projected slides of Janet as a baby with her dead father, are slightly incompatible with the track's mature themes.
The songstress will commence a 32-city tour in Vancouver on Aug. 31.
