Promoting a better "mobile relationship," Motorola announced the next generation of its most popular phones, Moto G and Moto X.
The company also revealed the newest members of the Moto X family, Moto X Play and Moto X Style on the official Motorola blog Tuesday, July 28.
Motorola launched Moto G (3rd gen) in India, while simultaneously having three more event in New York City, Sao Paolo and London to announce the Moto X Play and the Moto X Style.
Though the company did not reveal the official price tag attached with the new variants of Moto X, report from The Guardian stated that the Moto X Play will be priced at £299 and the Moto X Style will be priced at £359.
The price at which these devices will be sold in India is yet to be revealed along with its launch date.
Moto X Style
Featuring a rather huge 5.7-inch QuadHD display, the Moto X Style offers a 515ppi pixel density. Moto X Style packs a Qualcomm Snapdragon 808 SoC along with a 1.8GHz hexa-core processor coupled with 3GB of RAM.
The Moto X Style will run Android 5.1.1 Lollipop on board. Moreover, the handset will come loaded with Motorola's proprietary features including Moto Actions, Moto Display, Moto Assist, Moto Voice to name a few.
As far as storage is concerned, the Moto X Style will be available in 16GB, 32GB and 64 GB storage variants that will be further expandable up to 128GB via microSD card.
The Moto X Style boasts of a 21-mega pixel rear camera with an f/2.0 aperture, while the front camera is 5 mega pixels accompanied with a flash. In addition, users can shoot 4K videos.
A 3,000 mAh battery will power the Moto X Style. Touted as the "world's fastest charging smartphone," the Moto X Style will "get 10 hours of power in just 15 minutes of charging with TurboPower," the website said.
Moreover, the Moto X Style supports the Moto Maker program enabling users to customize the phone as per their preferences. Buyers can choose between natural wood covers, and leather, Tech 2 noted.
Moto X Play
Despite having different internals, Motorola did not explain why the same Moto X branding was used for both the smartphones.
The Moto X Play boasts of "a water-repellent design" and a 5.5-inch full HD display that gives it a pixel density of 400ppi. Geared with Qualcomm Snapdragon 615 SoC, the Moto X Play features a 1.7GHz octa-core processor coupled with 2GB of RAM.
In terms of similarities with the Moto X Style, the Moto X Play runs Android 5.1.1, 4G LTE support and the same Motorola software features. It features a 21-mega pixel rear and 5 mega pixel front facing camera.
The Moto X Play will feature a video capture mode that is restricted to full HD mode. The device's front camera will reportedly not get a dedicated flash light unit. The Moto X Play will however feature a mammoth 3,630mAh battery which will offer 48 hours of mixed use time. As far as the variants are concerned, the Moto X Play is probably come in 16GB and 32GB variants that can be further expanded via microSD card.
Another report on Financial Express notes that the tech titan Motorola is currently "considering setting up a production unit in India," Marcus Frost, Motorola senior marketing director for Europe, Middle East, Africa and Asia Pacific, said.
Frost confirmed that the company is currently evaluating and will have news soon. He did not reveal any more details or timeline, however.
