Ki Tae Young will appear in the upcoming Monday-Tuesday drama "The Eccentric Daughter-In-Law" aka "Taming Mother-In-Law."
From the alternative titles alone, it may be obvious that this will be a drama about the conflict between a daughter-in-law and her mother-in-law. Right in the middle of all this conflict is the charming CEO played by Ki Tae Young. His as-yet-unnamed character loves both his mom and his wife. They just don't like each other.
His wife, Oh In Young, played by Kim Dason is a former idol who is eager to regain her popularity. So she appears on a reality show titled "Experience of Daughter-in-Law From The Eldest Son's Family." As the eldest son is the one traditionally expected to look out for his parents, it's a program about the expectations facing a daughter-in-law in a noble family. She's paired up with a fake mother-in-law, Yang Choon Ja, played by Go Doo Shim.
They hate each other when they meet. At worst this could make for a terrible but temporary working relationship. But then they become real-life mother and daughter-in-law and face a lifetime of interacting with each other. Although they fight and disagree, they eventually come to like and respect each other, thereby realizing the true meaning of family.
While they are busy fighting each other, it won'd be good for the man in the middle, namely the character played by Ki Tae Young.
Whatever character complications may lie ahead, the actor is just happy to be working on the show. The actor's agency Broadin Entertainment spoke with the Korean media outlet OSEN.
"It is an honor to work with accomplished senior actors such as Go Doo Shim and Kim Bo Yeon. I am already anticipating the shoot."
Ki Tae Young previously appeared in the dramas "To The Beautiful You," "Make A Wish" and "Scandal: A Shocking and Wrongful Incident," as well as the 2015 film "Han River."
The 12-episode drama also stars Ryu Soo Young, Kim Yoon Seo, Baek Ok Dam and Son Eun Seo.
Moon Sun Hee, who wrote "Grandpas Over Flowers," along with Yoo Nam Kyung, are the drama's screenwriters. Lee Duk Gun, who directed "Please Marry Me" and produced "The Prime Minister and I," is the drama's director.
"The Eccentric Daughter-in-Law" is set to air on August 17.
