The press conference was for Kim Tae Hee's upcoming drama 'Yong Pal Ie," but the discussion somehow veered to her rumored wedding plans with boyfriend singer-actor Rain.
Ever since the couple started dating in 2012, there have been an endless series of wedding rumors. In May 2015 it was rumored that Kim inserted a special clause in her contract for 'Yong Pal Ie," stating that she have time off for a possible marriage. Her agency denied the rumors.
That followed rumors in April saying that their parents had met and given them permission to marry. They denied any such meeting. When Rain sold his house in Seoul's Samseong neighborhood, it was rumored he was doing so to fun an upcoming wedding.
When he converted to Catholicism in June 2014, rumors said he did so because he wanted to marry Kim, who is also a Catholic.
The latest round of speculation said that Kim planned to marry Rain before the drama started. But at the press conference for her new drama on July 30, Kim said the subject of marriage had not come up.
"It is not like subject never came up between us," said Kim. "We are in a relationship after all. However, nothing concrete really came out of those talks. I'm not sure when or even who I'll end up marrying. So, it is somewhat stressful when plans are just created for me out of the ether. I worry that the public is also confused. Please understand that I cannot always respond to those rumors."
Her new drama role pairs her up with actor Joo Won, who recently complimented and said he was happy to work with her. In "Yong Pal Ie," she plays an heiress who spends the first few episodes of the drama in a coma. Joo Won plays a doctor who has been forced to act in an unethical way because of the overwhelming debt incurred by his sister's illness.
Jang Hyuk Rin, who wrote the screenplay for "Reset" is the screenwriter on the drama. Oh Jin Suk, who directed "Lovers in Paris," "Modrn Farmer" and Goddess of Marriage" will direct 'Yong Pal Ie.'
The drama, which also stars Jung Woong In, Song Kyung Chul, Jo Bok Rae and Jang Gwang, will air on August 5.
Kim Tae Hee's last k-drama role was in "Jang Ok Jung: Living For Love." She also appeared in the Chinese TV drama "Wang Xizhi."
