Gwen Stefani and Gavin Rossdale are calling it quits and filing for divorce after 13 years of marriage, CNN reported. News of their split has shocked Hollywood with questions about what happened to music duo's riveting marriage.
The musical pair got married in 2002 and said in a statement that they are preparing for a divorce. Gwen Stefani was the lead singer for the sensational band with a novel sound, "No Doubt" and Rossdale was the front-man for "Bush." Stefani has enjoyed a successful solo career while her group took a break from recording.
Gwen Stefani and Gavin Rossdale announced in a joint statement they are getting divorced.
"While the two of us have come to the mutual decision that we will no longer be partners in marriage, we remain partners in parenthood and are committed to jointly raising our three sons in a happy and healthy environment," said the statement by Gwen Stefani and Gavin Rossdale, CNN reported.
"To that end, we respectfully request privacy from the media during this time," the statement added.
Stefani and Rossdale got married in 2002 after dating for six years. The musical couple are parents of Kingston (9), Zuma (6) and Apollo (1), said Entertainment Weekly. Stefani was prominent for writing romantic songs about her husband Rossdale.
According to EW, Stefani's divorce papers in unison with Rossdale's. The music duo is filing for joint custody of the children.
TMZ reported that the break up was bound to occur sooner or later. Stefani had alleged that Rossdale was gone too long on tour with his band. He was away on tour from December to March this year and she believes that her husband is unfaithful, News.com.au.
Just before finalizing their divorce, Stefani and Rossdale took a family divorce vacation, made popular by actor Ben Affleck and his ex Jennifer Garner, Radar Online said.
