Kim Kardashian almost "broke the Internet" with her nude selfies recently. She also decided to do a book, "Selfish" which reportedly didn't sell as many copies as expected. The Kim Kardashian book "Selfish" was presumed to have sold 32,000 copies, according to a Aug. 3 report by Nielsen Bookscan. However, the publisher says Kim Kardashian's 352-page selfie book, Selfish, had much higher sales figures than reported, said U.S. magazine.
"The Bookscan number of 30K floating around is not inaccurate but it represents a very small segment of our sales overall, which are very strong in non-bookstore specialty retailers, and international sales, neither of which report to Bookscan," Executive Director of Publicity at Rizzoli Pam Sommers said in a statement. "The book is, in fact, a significant success story as a benchmark of the phenomenon of self-portrait in the digital age."
The book was released in May, according to Sommers, and is now it its fourth printing volume translating into total trade sales of around 125,000 copies. This includes both domestic and international sales of Kim Kardashian's book "Selfish."
Sommers continued to say that Rizzoli switched printers from an Asian company to one in the U.S. in order to cut down delivery time to meet demand for the book.
For Kim K. fans, the book is inexpensive with an original price of $19.95. But you can get Kim Kardashian's book "Selfish" at Barnes & Noble for $12 and you would just have to pay $10 on Amazon.
Kardashian, 34, came up with the idea of a book with her selfies in August 2014. She wanted to give her husband Kanye West a special gift for Valentine's and so she made an album with her selfies for Kanye.
"I couldn't think of what to get Kanye [for Valentine's Day] and so I was like, ''All guys love it when a girl sends them sexy pics,'' Kim said on an episode of "Keeping Up With the Kardashians."
"So I had [my assistant] Stephanie get a Polaroid and we were taking photos around the entire house … making this cool book, and it ended up turning out so cool, we came up with this idea to do a selfie book."
"Upon its release, Selfish -- which includes multiple shots of Kardashian topless -- received mixed reviews," USA magazine shared. "Lena Dunham, for one, proudly showed off her purchase of the book on Instagram, writing that she supports "experiments in female identity exploration" and "will not be shamed." Project Runway star Tim Gunn, however, flipped through the book at Us Weekly's headquarters in June and was not impressed.
"To all the young people out there in particular: Banish this...This is disgusting and vile. What if this is the only thing that survives in the time capsule?" Gunn, 62, said at the time. "I feel my IQ is plummeting."
