Jordan Clarkson was named to the First Team All Rookie last season, but there's a reason for that, and that is because Los Angeles Lakers second-year guard is always looking to get better. Speaking of the Purple and Gold, rumors are flying that the team is looking to add Javalee McGee into the lineup.
It's well documented that Jordan Clarkson struggled during the first half of last year's season when he barely had playing time. Instead of sulking, however, he set aside his ego to ask Byron Scott to send him over to the D-League.
"I'm focused on always working on my game," he said in a piece by the NBADLeague.com. "Early in the year, I wasn't getting much time with the Lakers. Sometimes I would ask Coach to just go let me play."
Jordan Clarkson continued, "I love to hoop and you can never get better just by sitting on the bench. Going to play in those [D-Fenders] games definitely helped me to work on stuff that I could transfer over when I got time in the League. The game is a little different between the levels, but it helped slow the game down for me and it sped up my process of becoming a good player in this league."
His efforts paid off following the All-Star break when he was inserted into the lineup and averaged about 15.8 points, 5 assists and 4.2 rebounds as a starter playing 38 games.
Meanwhile, the Los Angeles Lakers are reported on the running to get the services of bigman Javalee McGee.
Reporter Alex Kennedy tweeted, "Sources close to JaVale McGee say he's focused on getting healthy. Several teams have shown interest. Mavs, Lakers seem like frontrunners."
Javalee McGee has been injured in the last two seasons which affected his play. The athletic center showed flashes but wasn't really able to get consistent numbers in terms of points, rebounds and blocks.
Sean Highkin of Probasketball Talk wrote that Javalee McGee has a better chance with the Dallas Mavericks than the Los Angeles Lakers.
The Los Angeles Lakers, he wrote, has "Roy Hibbert and have a handful of talented young bigs including Julius Randle, Tarik Black and (potentially) Robert Upshaw. Dallas is much thinner up front with proven talent. If McGee can stay healthy and stay engaged (two very big if's), he's the better fit there."
