Winona Ryder is not a new face to movies. Ryder has been around for some time in Hollywood and she made heads turn in her black and white patterned frock, as she walked the red carpet at the premiere screening for HBO's miniseries "Show Me A Hero." The brunette brown-eyed beauty, 43, wore her hair up in a sophisticated 'do' which showed off her diamond drop earrings, Daily Mail reported.
She stars in the six one-hour episodes about a young mayor's struggles to create affordable housing in a white middle class community, as reported by Daily Mail.
For Winona, this marks the first big TV lead role. On Late Night With Seth Myers this week, she revealed it's been a challenge not least because of working with co-star Oscar Isaac as Wasicsko, as reported by Daily Mail.
The series, "Show Me A Hero", is based on the true story of Mayor Nick Wasicsko (played by Oscar Issac) who, in 1987, was handed a federal mandate to build public housing in Yonkers, New York. Ryder, who plays his ally, takes up the role of a city councilwoman Vinni Restiano. She is the mayor's confidante.
Winona, the "Edward Scissorhands'' star, who's had a Hollywood career spanning 30 years, explained she found Oscar Issac so mesmerizing that she'd forget her lines, according to a report by Daily Mail.
"There's only a handful [of actors] that I've had the experience... where the cameras are rolling and they talk and I think that they are talking to me... and I go blank," she told Meyers on the Late Late Show this week.
"It's like Katharine Hepburn talking about Spencer Tracy: 'There's no embroidery, he just does it.' It's just the truth."
Winona was warmly greeted by Issac as he arrived at the special screening in New York, showing the chemistry between them. Isaac wore a dark blue designer suit and tie and his designer stubble accentuated his chiseled good looks, the Daily Mail shared.
The show premieres on HBO on Sunday August 16.
