Many were shocked when Cara Delevingne recently announced that she's quitting the modeling industry for good.
The 22-year-old British model's decision came as a surprise especially now that she's at the peak of her career, with runway gigs and ad campaigns for a few global brands including Mango, Topshop, Burberry and Chanel.
"I am not doing fashion work any more, after having, like, psoriasis and all that stuff," Cara Delevingne told The Times.
"Modelling just made me feel a bit hollow after a while. It didn't make me grow at all as a human being. And I kind of forgot how young I was ... I felt so old," she added.
It seemed that Cara Delevingne didn't have a lot of nice things to say about the modeling industry.
"I was, like, fight and flight for months," the "Paper Towns" actress added, as quoted by USA Today.
"Just constantly on edge. It is a mental thing as well because if you hate yourself and your body and the way you look, it just gets worse and worse."
According to a report, Cara Delevingne's decision was purportedly highly influenced by her friend, Kendall Jenner.
Did the "Keeping Up With The Kardashians" star advise Cara to quit modeling so that she can hog the limelight? Did Kendall Jenner want to eliminate one of her competitions for being the face of the modeling industry of her generation?
Not quite. According to an insider, Kendall Jenner was just supporting Cara Delevingne who needed a little push to focus on one of her other talents which is acting.
"Her friends are very supportive," a source told Hollywood Life about Kendall Jenner advising Cara Delevingne.
"They think she's doing the right thing. Kendall has been one of her biggest fans. She and her whole family pushed Cara to make the jump and quit modeling in order to focus on acting. They told her she should believe in herself the way they believe in her," the article added.
