Independent technical analysts compared the resolutions and frame-rate performance for the video game "Metal Gear Solid 5" on both the Xbox One and PS4. The two video game consoles were comparable in the testing and 'Metal Gear Solid 5' Xbox One resolution was able to withstand competition from Sony, said Digital Foundry, a technical analyst.
"Sony's platform wins out in direct comparisons of course, having no need to upscale its image," Gamespot said. "However, it must be said Xbox One acquits itself very nicely at 900p, and despite some softening to foliage elements, its resolution is no longer a tangible limiting factor to the experience."
Early 'Metal Gear Solid 5' Xbox One resolution testing revealed very little difference between between the Xbox One and the PS4 versions when resolution of ."Metal Gear Solid 5" was considered.
"Xbox One edition delivers on offering a native 1600x900 resolution at 60 frames-per-second, said Gamestop. "The PlayStation 4 version, meanwhile, rendered at a slightly more advanced 1080p60."
"In game-play, both PS4 and Xbox One run at a near-flawless 60fps, with v-sync engaged at all times to avoid tearing," Digital Foundry found. "The heightened pixel count on Xbox One doesn't appear to hamper this, even when faced with a valley filled with foliage elements. Traveling at speed across busy terrain gives us 60fps as well--an impressive feat."
However, comparison between consoles when Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes" turned out a more significant difference in resolution. Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes released in 2014 was a precursor to the "The Phantom Pain" and resulted in an Xbox One reading of 720p while the PS4 came up with a full HD performance.
Digital Foundry revealed a narrowing gap of 900p vs 1080p between 'Metal Gear Solid 5 Xbox One' resolution with PS4 metrics. This would place Microsoft's Xbox One's resolution in an optimal setting to compete among rivals like Sony's PS4.
