Chicago Bulls star Derrick Rose slams his ex-girlfriend's accusation that he raped and drugged her back in 2013.
Early this week, the NBA superstar has been accused of taking sexual advantage of his former girlfriend Jane Doe. According to TMZ, Doe claimed that Rose pressured her to "masturbate in front of him, allow him to have sex with her friends and engage in group sex with strangers."
The unidentified girlfriend also alleged that Derrick Rose, together with his two friends Ryan Allen and Randall Hampton, gang raped her back in 2013. She added that they slipped a drug into her drink with the intention of raping her.
But she claimed that could no longer the details of the incident. Derrick Rose's former girlfriend, however, was certain that Chicago Bulls star, Allen and Hampton forcibly raped her.
When asked why it took her almost two years to file the complaint, the complainant said that she was "ashamed and embarrassed." She added that she did not want her "conservative family" to find out what happened.
On the other hand, Derrick Rose has released a statement, via K.C. Johnson on Twitter.
"I'm just focusing on staying healthy and getting ready for the season," he said. "I'm not going to comment other than to say: I know the truth and am confident I will be proven innocent."
Rose's lawyer, Lisa Cohen, also released an official statement to ESPN regarding the complainant's rape accusation.
She said that although Derrick Rose and girl had been in a "consensual, non-exclusive" relationship, her accusations were "completely false and without any factual basis." She also believed that the case would soon be dismissed.
The Chicago Bulls also released a statement following the incident involving its star on Aug. 27.
"We just learned about this matter and do not know all the facts. It would be inappropriate to comment further at this time," it read.
