Is Los Angeles Lakers guard Jordan Clarkson joining the team his native Philippines is fielding for the International Basketball Federation (FIBA)?
In a statement from the Los Angeles Lakers guard, as shared by the Basketball Association of the Philippines, he said, "I want to assure my Filipino brothers and sisters that, if given the chance and everything can be worked out, I sincerely wish to play for Gilas and contribute to the total team effort for flag and country."
The FIBA pointed out that Jordan Clarkson could not suit up for the Philippines team because of concerns regarding his citizenship.
But Basketball Association of the Philippines director Sonny Barrios told Rappler that Jordan Clarkson has as much right to play for the Philippines as anybody since he is a Philippine passport holder since he was 15 years old.
"In 2004, if I'm not mistaken," he said, adding that they already submitted the necessary documents to prove the legitimacy of the Los Angeles Lakers guard to the necessary authorities.
"It has been submitted to FIBA, who's asking for supporting documents. As we speak, those are being submitted to them," he added.
Meanwhile, Los Angeles Lakers guard Jordan Clarkson and Victoria's Secret model Chanel Iman's relationship seems to be getting stronger.
Chanel Iman's Instagram are filled with photos of her bonding time with the Los Angeles Lakers guard.
Two weeks ago, for example, the couple was at the home game of the Los Angeles baseball team. She wrote, "Dodgers Game @jclark5on (ball emoji) ️ #la #fun #baseball @vitafede."
One fan commented, "Love it! Your man is going to be Lakers MVP!"
Jordan Clarkson and Chanel Iman were rumored to be dating as early as May this year when they were spotted holding hands while stepping out of the DBA nightclub in Los Angeles. The Victoria's Secret model was once engaged to the rapper, A$AP Rocky, before their split in 2014.
