The movie "Fifty Shades Darker" finally has directorial seat filled by none other than Director James Foley. He has been officially offered to direct sequel to the blockbuster erotic drama "Fifty Shades of Grey."
"Fifty Shades of Grey" director, Sam Taylor-Johnson left the project in May over the creative differences with the book author E.L. James. Ever since then, "Fifty Shades Darker" was sailing without any director. According to Deadline, the 61-years-old American director, James Foley remained the top choice by the Universal Pictures to direct "Fifty Shades Darker."
According to Variety, Universal Pictures has finally offered the directing job to James Foley. The studio and the director are currently negotiating on an official deal that will be beginning shortly.
James Foley's past directing work includes films like "Glengarry Glen Ross," "Fear," "Confidence," and "After Dark, My Sweet." Although, James Foley has not directed any feature films since 2007's "Perfect Strangers." His most recent work from Netflix original drama, "House of Cards" has gained him popularity in directing themes of sex and power.
"Fifty Shades of Grey" movie had earned over $560 million worldwide. The film has remained a big part of Universal Picture's box-office success in 2015. "Fifty Shades" series has built-in fan base of the book series and the first movie, so there are predictions by media giants that, "Fifty Shades Darker" will also do well at the box-office.
There are still a lot of things to consider before the filming of "Fifty Shades Darker" commences. There are still three key characters that are yet to cast. The casting is still open for obsessive boss Jack Hyde, former submissive Leila Williams and Mrs Robinson. "Fifty Shades Darker" will be the first movie from "Fifty Shades" franchise to highlight these three main story characters.
According to the book trilogy, Character of Jack Hyde and Mrs Robinson will be the two main antagonists in coming "Fifty Shades" movie. "Fifty Shades Darker" movie will bring back Jamie Dornan in his role of billionaire Christian Grey and Dakota Johnson will be playing the role of Anastasia Steele. Dana Brunetti and Michael De Luca are going to produce the erotic drama film.
"Fifty Shades Darker" opens in US on February 10th, 2017.
