Wrestling Legend Jimmy 'Superfly' Snuka was found guilty for murdering his 23-years-old girlfriend Nancy Argentino. The court took 32 years to pass a judgement in Argentino's murder case.
In his autobiography, "Superfly: The Jimmy Snuka Story," WWE legend Jimmy Snuka described himself as a free spirit. The autobiography was to highlight his 'Hall of Fame' career but instead became a major clue in solving the case of his dead ex-girlfriend. On Tuesday, Lehigh County authorities said that, wrestler Jimmy Snuka's autobiography has helped them in cracking the case named, 'The death of Snuka's girlfriend, Nancy Argentino.'
On Tuesday, WWE legend Snuka got charged with third degree murder. The jury stated that Jimmy Snuka repeatedly assaulted Nancy Argentino in a motel on May 10, 1983 and then left her in bed to die.
According to Morning Call, on May 10, 1983, Jimmy Snuka was at Allentown Fairgrounds for a WWF taping. After the event, the wrestler shared few beers with his fellow mates. After a while, Snuka went to his motel room and found his girlfriend Nancy on bed with yellow fluid coming out of her mouth. After few hours, she died in the hospital. Although her autopsy stated that her death would be treated as a case of homicide.
In his autobiography, Jimmy Snuka changed this storyline and instead wrote that Nancy had slipped on the highway and hit her head.
According to TMZ, the investigating team took a notice in Jimmy Snuka's story, which made them reopen the case. On January 2014, grand jury confirmed that they would be reopening Nancy's murder case.
On July 17, Leigh County Grand Jury presented a 30-page report stating that they are charging Jimmy with homicide. The jury charged Snuka on three major documents, which includes Nancy Argentino's autopsy reports; Jimmy Snuka's many changes in his statement to media and later in his own autobiography; and Jimmy's prior assaults to Nancy Argentino and to his ex-wife.
The DA officer Martin and Judge Maria L. Dantos who administrated the entire Grand Jury, approved the third degree charges on the wrestling legend Jimmy Snuka.
Killing with malice, carries a maximum sentence of 20 to 40 years in prison. Martin said that normally the court does not allow a bail but Jimmy is suffering from a life-threatening illness and his treatment would bring unnecessarily burden to taxpayers.
According to LehighValleyLive.com, Jimmy Snuka had a bail set at $100,000 and is now out of bail after posting 10 percent along with surrendering his passport.
