Director James Gunn has been providing updates on his upcoming "Guardians of the Galaxy 2" Production to his fans via his Twitter and Facebook pages. Early in April, James had revealed that the principal photography of the highly-anticipated "Guardians of the Galaxy 2" would not begin until February, 2016. But, a day ago, the director shared a snap of himself with Vin Diesel and James Wan from his "going-away party."
"Two Directors One Diesel, with Vin Diesel and James Wan at my going away party last night before I leave for Atlanta for ten months to shoot GotG Vol 2 (Guardians of the Galaxy 2)," he captioned the photograph. He also wrote, "One of the best times I've had in a while, with so many great friends. Thanks to all who came! - with Vin Diesel and James Wan."
In the Facebook comment section of his post, James posted that he was trying to have some footage of the "Guardians of the Galaxy 2" Production ready to show his fans at the Comic-Con 2016.
Movie Web reported that the director and his crew were heading to Atlanta to build the massive sets for "Guardians of Galaxy 2." Reports said that the filmmaker hadn't spared any specific story details at that time.
Atlanta seems to have become the go-to-place for shooting of Marvel movies. Lately, "Ant-Man," "Captain America: Civil War" and "Thor 3" had been filmed there. The Big Bag reported that the world-class facilities offered at the new Pinewood Studios Atlanta could be a major factor that had attracted the most influential film makers to shoot in Atlanta.
James had revealed over the social media that the new "Guardians of the Galaxy 2" movie would not have too many super heroes. He said that it would be a private follow-up.
"Characters like Kraglin, The Broker, Bereet, and Garthan Saal all originally appeared in the comics, albeit sometimes in very different incarnations," James said. He added that for every name that he wished to use, he had to run though the Marvel Legal Department. He said that he felt like a "Bummer" when he could not use a name because most of them had been owned by Hasbro, Sony or Fox, the Bit Bag reported.
