Johnny Depp was snapped sporting the dad bod at the "Black Mass" red carpet premiere where he was accompanied by wife Amber Heard. And the actor's looks certainly made headlines.

But social media and online news outlets could not get over the "Pirates of the Caribbean" actor's "bloated" appearance at the premiere.

An article from The New York Post screamed, "What happened to Johnny Depp?"

"The actor's face, chiseled just a few months ago, had swelled into a puffy oval, and the rest of his body looked as if it had gotten just as round," it said.

The article added, "His hair appeared greasier than usual, and topping off his look, one of his teeth was red for some mysterious reason. A stain? A stray piece of cranberry? Some sort of pirate thing? We have no idea."

Johnny Depp's bloated looks is not for the role of Whitey Bulger in "Black Mass" because the Irish-American mobster wasn't heavy-set even in an advanced age.

Amber Heard's husband talked about transforming in whatever role he takes on.

Talking to Guardian, the "Pirates of the Caribbean" actor said that he takes inspiration from Marlon Brando, John Garfield, John Barrymore and Lon Chaney Sr. to really dig into the character.

"I always wanted to be a character actor rather than the poster boy that they tried to make me 100 years ago," he said. "An actor has a degree of responsibility to change for the audience, to give them something new each time, to surprise and not bore them. It's important to test yourself each time, to take the risk you might fall flat on your face and look a complete ass."

Social media was quick to notice "Black Mass" star Johnny Depp's bloated looks, with Page Six posting a couple of them. One Twitter user wrote, "Browsing through Venice pics, I can´t get over Johnny Depp looking fat now." Another said, "Johnny Depp looks how I feel after too much Olive Garden on a PMS rager. #bloated."
