Instagram removed a topless photo of Naomi Campbell posted in the website in an effort to support the "free the nipple" campaign.

Half nude photo of Campbell was removed by Instagram after 20 long hours which was reportedly posted to challenge the site's no NSFW policy. The picture uploaded by Campbell captioned with free the nipple hash-tag was actually a teaser previewed in Garage Magazine intended for use in a yet-to-be released book project, The Cut.

The "free the nipple" campaign is believed to be carried out to bring in gender equality. Since there is a bias in the society and social media when it comes to half-nude pictures, topless pictures of these super beautiful ladies are uploaded to grab users' attention and create awareness. The campaigners claim that photos of men showing off their bare bodies are never censored by any of the sites.

Is this Naomi Campbell's promotional tactics?

The photo though thought as a scandal inducer it also makes sense to consider it as a promotional tactic. The 45 year old model could be using her two-volume Taschen book's promotional picture to grab the attention of millions of people through this campaign.

As per Instagram's policy "nude, partially nude... pornographic or sexually suggestive photos or content via the service," are strictly prohibited. Their community guidelines also state that "For a variety of reasons we don't allow nudity... this includes some photos of female nipples," according to The independent.

Naomi Campbell is not the lone runner for the Campaign

Other celebrities like Chelsea Handler, Miley Cyrus, and Rumer Willis supported this campaign in Instagram lately. They demanded rights for displaying their nipples in public places by posting half nude photos on Instagram which were taken off within next 30 minutes.

Scout Willis, the daughter of Demi Moore and Bruce Willis hasn't had her nude photo supporting the campaign removed on the contrary her Instagram account was deactivated. Rihanna also had her topless magazine cover photo removed from Instagram back in 2014.
