Robert Pattinson's experience with the "Twilight" hype and his ensuing breakup from Kristen Stewart has given him a lesson on when to shut up on questions surrounding his engagement with FKA Twigs.
Speaking to Guardian, Robert Pattinson was again asked for details regarding the engagement to FKA Twigs, but he coyly demurred.
"I've just found if you never talk about stuff it's better. But thank you," he said.
Robert Pattinson then explained that being stalked by the paparazzi and being the subject of nasty rumors on the Internet, as an offshoot of his fame, have taught him a lesson or two.
"It's bringing your family into the public domain and then having to have them deal with this horrible cacophony of demons who live on the interne," he said. "That's really ruined a lot of things, internet trolls, because no one wants to put themselves out there. Even if you can ignore it, and I don't think anyone can really ignore it."
Robert Pattinson was mum about his breakup with Kristen Stewart, which happened when she cheated on the "Twilight" actor with "Snow White and the Huntsman" director Rupert Sanders.
Meanwhile, Kristen Stewart said the breakup with Robert Pattinson was "incredibly painful."
But she told the Daily Beast that she's using her experience as basis for playing her character in "Equals."
"We all felt akin by how much we've been through, and to utilize that is so scary. And to acknowledge it, reassess, and jump back into it?" she said. "Usually you want to move on. But at least we could use some of that for some good."
Robert Pattinson and FKA Twigs reportedly got engaged during a small party at the sidelines of her performance at the Coachella Music Festival this year. The engagement was revealed by T-Pain without their permission.
In an interview for Complex magazine, she said, "I am genuinely shocked and disgusted at the amount of racism that has been infecting my account the past week."
"Racism is unacceptable in the real world, and it's unacceptable online. I wouldn't say I'm completely numb to it now, but there's definitely a numbness there."
