Earlier this month, Wes Ball talked about introducing a different storyline in the third part of "Maze Runner" franchise, although the information related to him directing the film was not confirmed at that time but now it is confirmed that the 34-year-old will direct the last part of the "Maze Runner" series titled, "Maze Runner: The Death Cure."

In a discussion with Variety, Wes Ball stated that their goal is to create a wonderful three-movie trilogy. "Not many people have done that and now I have the opportunity to do that," said Wes Ball.

Wes is directing the third movie and is now busy in preparing for the production of the film. The director has given all the credit to the cast members of the franchise for making him ready to do finale of the franchise. According to Ball, the cast members are setting up many things, which are even not necessarily clear in the second film. It is expected to pay off big time in "Maze Runner: The Death cure."

"I'm glad that I can finish the series. I'm lucky and thankful that they asked me to direct all three films. At first I wasn't sure if I was going to do it or not, but honestly, it was the cast that I wanted to work with again. They are such great people," revealed Wes.

The first part in the dystopian science fiction movie was a megahit, which earned more than $340M worldwide. Given the success of first part, it is estimated that "Maze Runner: The Scorch Trials" will earn up to $35M in its opening weekend. With the same director helming down the project, "Maze Runner: The Death Cure" will also do wonders over the box-office.

"Maze Runner: The Death Cure" will focus on Thomas' chase for finding a cure for 'Flare.' The movie is slated for February 17, 2017 release.
