"Fuller House" actor John Stamos' life appeared to be on a downward spiral which culminated in a DUI arrest in June.
But John Stamos now claimed that the arrest, along with the month-long stint in rehab, was the best thing that happened in his life.
In an new interview with Details magazine, he said that it was a rough year for him after her mother died but he wouldn't have realized that he was on a downward spiral if not for the arrest and the rehab.
"You either continue on that path-and some of it's fun, but a lot of it's not-or there's this other thing, this golden opportunity sitting there with all this work and all this goodwill that you have going for you. That's the key. I feel better than I've felt in a decade," he said.
The "Fuller house" actor admitted that he's still struggling with self-discipline.
"I'm trying. I swear to God I'm trying. It's not as much fun, but you have to be responsible," he added. "It's about discipline, which I lost for a while. Part of being undisciplined for the past five or six years is that I didn't work as much as it looked like."
"I had some high-profile jobs, like a Super Bowl commercial or a few episodes of Glee, but there was a lot of downtime, and that can be, obviously, dangerous."
The actor tweeted right after checking into rehab in Beverly Hills following his DUI arrest, "Thanks to everyone for their love & support. I'm home & well. Very appreciative of the BHPD & Cedars for their care."
John Stamos is reportedly set to reprise his role as Jesse Katsopolis, uncle to Olsen Twins, in the "Full House" sequel.
"Everybody knew about it; everybody was asked. I made sure it became a favored- nations thing, so we all make the same amount. Obviously, the twins have a different thing. We're doing 13 episodes, so if they want to change their minds, we'd love to have them . . . but we only need one!" he told Details magazine regarding "Fuller House"
