'Hollywood Wives' Author Jackie Collins Dies At 77

Jackie Collins, the bestselling author of dozens of novels including "Hollywood wives" died at the age of 77. The publicist, Melody Korenbrot said that the 77-years-old author died of breast cancer on Saturday in Los Angeles.

According to People Magazine, Jackie Collins was diagnosed with Stage-4 Breast cancer six-and-a-half years ago but the famous novelist chose to keep her illness out of the public sight. The magazine said that the author only disclosed about her illness to her three daughters, Tracy, 54, Tiffany, 48, and Rory, 46.

The three sisters jointly posted a statement on Facebook, saying, "She lived a wonderfully full life and was adored by her family, friends and the millions of readers who she has entertained for over 4 decades. She was a true inspiration, a trail blazer for women in fiction and a creative force. She will live on through her characters but we already miss her beyond words."

According to Collins' official website, her stories of the glamorous lives oh Hollywood made her one of the most celebrated and top-selling novelist. With titles like, "Hollywood Wives," "The Stud," and "Rock Star," Jackie had sold over 500 million copies in more than 40 countries.

In a 2011 interview with CNN's Peirs Morgan, Jackie Collins talked about all the 33 books which she wrote at that time. According to her, all of her books were in longhand and she tried to write stories that will entertain her readers - with lots of sex. "I like writing something that's going to make people laugh, but also turn them on at the same time," she added.

Jackie Collins' sister, 82-years-old Joan Collins told People Magazine that she is completely devastated by Jackie's demise. "I admire how she handled this. She was a wonderful, brave and a beautiful person and I love her."
