The Season 5 of Showtime's political thriller drama, "Homeland" is few weeks away. With the upcoming season, the series will move away from their usual terrorist storyline. The Season 5 of "Homeland" will focus on current issues like, Charlie Hebdo attacks, ISIS, and former national security agent Edward Snowden.
The finale of Season 4 left the fans with many unanswered questions like, What happened to Quinn in Syria? The future of Saul as a CIA director? Well, the upcoming season of "Homeland" will shed some light on these unanswered questions. The Episode 1 of Season 5 is tited "Separation Anxiety," where Carrie will face have to make a choise to go back to that life which she left in Langley.
The finale of S4 showed how Saul betrayed Carrie by taking side with Dal Adal. Showtime even released promotional pictures showing Carrie reuniting with her ex-CIA-boss, Saul Berenson. So, in the upcoming season things will might take a softer turn between Carrie and Saul.
"The game has changed for Carrie Mathison,(please observe AP style: attribution after first sentence in quotation) according to Showtime, the official synopsis of the show.
"Out of the CIA and living in Berlin, Carrie is trying to start a new life but realizes now she's the one with a target on her back. As the danger intensifies, and without Saul and Quinn to rely on, one thing becomes clear she's never been at greater risk or with more to lose."
Showtime also revealed that the upcoming season will start two years after Carrie's failed mission. When Season 5 starts, viewers will find Carrie struggling with her guilt and disillusionment with years of working on the front lines in the 'war on terror.'
"Carrie finds herself in a self-imposed exile in Berlin, estranged from the CIA and working for a private security firm."
In the fifth season of "Homeland," Quinn will go back to his old assassin ways. In the trailer, it is shown that he is willing to kill anyone whose name is placed in the box.
Season 5 of "Homeland" premieres on Sunday, October 4 on Showtime.
