In 2009, Rovio Entertainment developed Angry Bird for Apple's iOS. After the enormous success of the game, the Game Developers are bringing "Angry Bird" movie with the collaboration of Sony Pictures Imageworks. The movie finally has a trailer.
"Angry Bird" movie trailer looks decent for an animated comedy film. The film has some interesting talent behind it, including Peter Dinklage, Bill Hader, and Jason Sudekis.
According to Commingsoon.net, Finnish video-game developer Rovio Entertainment revealed that they have picked Sony Pictures Imageworks to be the primary animation house for the production of "Angry Bird." Rovio also hired David Maisel, the former executive producer of "Iron Man" and "Thor" to be the head of the production of the animated film.
The film will mark the directorial début of Clay Katis and Fergal Reilly. Clay Katis has already worked as an animator for films like, "Frozen," "Wreck-It Ralph," and "Tangled." Whereas, Fergal Reilly has done the storyboard for films like, "The Iron Giant," "Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs," and "Spider-Man 2."
According to Variety, on October 1, 2014 both the studios launched the first image from the film with the ensemble cast that included Jason Sudeikis as Red, Josh Gad as Chuck, Danny McBride as Bomb, Bill Hader as Leonard, and PeterDinklage as Eagle.
Helsinkitimes reported that "Angry Bird" has a budget of $80M. In addition to this, it was also reported that both Sony and Rovio will spend $100M for the marketing and distribution of "Angry Bird." Despite the massive budget of the film, Rovio's CEO Mikael Hed said that, "it is the one that I don't ever lose any sleep over. Angry Bird is tremendously strong as a story."
It was earlier reported by Deadline that the film will release on July 1, 2016 but in December it was announced that the movie is scheduled to release on May 20, 2016.
