Stephanie Lee will return to "Yong Pal" for its finale. On September 25, the Korean outlet Star News reported that the model-turned-actress would return to "Yong Pal" to aid in the progress of the dramatic conclusion.

"Stephanie Lee will play a role in the final developments of 'Yong Pal,'" said a source related to the production.

The rookie actress gained attention from fans and critics for her portrayal of Cynthia (Shin Sa A), a physician trained in the U.S. who was the VIP ward leader.

Cynthia was responsible for the treatment of wealthy clients at Hanshin Hospital, who assisted Kim Tae Hyun (Joo Won) during his transition from medical intern to special service doctor on the 12th floor.

Her performance during the first half of the series helped to set the tone for the transition of Tae Hyun as he morphed from a rogue doctor who cared for gangsters to an on-call specialist who catered to VIP patients.

However, she departed after the eighth episode, after aiding Tae Hyun in his plot to rescue Han Yeo Jin (Kim Tae Hee) from her captors.

Cynthia departed under the premise that she would be returning to America, but her swift exit left many viewers speculating as to whether met an untimely death, like many of the other conspirators who kept Yeo Jin in a medically-induced coma.

The rising star continued to foster the buzz generated from role as Cynthia through numerous interviews and her live stream appearance on Naver's V.

Lee returns to "Yong Pal" as the series concludes its reign over other Wednesday and Thursday primetime dramas. According to the September 25 report released by Nielsen Korea, the series recorded 20.2 percent in nationwide viewership.

Due to its record-breaking ratings, "Yong Pal" received an extension, bringing the series to a total of 18 episodes.
