The 3D version of the movie "The Walk" directed by Robert Zemeckis will be premiered at the Rome Film Fest ahead of its Italian premiere.
Academy Award-winning director Zemeckis will premiere 3D version of his movie "The Walk" in the 10th annual Rome Film Fest. The world premiere of the film is on Saturday at the New York Film Fest and the Italian premiere of the flick will be on October 22, according to Hollywood Reporter.
The film is based on Philippe Petit, the French high-wire performer who walked on tightrope between the two towers of the World Trade Center in 1974. Joseph Gordon Levitt plays the lead role Petit in the movie. Other notable stars in the movie include Sir Ben Kingsley and Charlotte Le Bon.
Though Petit's daring tightrope walk story was presented earlier in the documentary "Man on Wire" the Cast Away director is keen about making this film, since he believes the story is not completely covered in the earlier version. The official movie synopsis notes that "The Walk" is a big screen cinema and the audience will have a feeling of reaching the clouds as a result of innovative photo-realistic techniques and IMAX 3D wizardry, reported Collider.
Zemeckis has directed many incredible movies like Back to the Future trilogy, Polar Express, Forrest Gump, Flight and Who Framed Roger Rabbit. The director noted on the film that "I love the idea of a guy - a performance artist - who pulls off this great caper. The caper is illegal, it's dangerous, but it doesn't hurt anybody. It seemed like something out of another time - you don't really see stuff like that anymore. It was almost like a fable."
"Yet another magnificent film by a great director who can truly be an auteur while making incredibly spectacular films," Antonio Monda the Rome Film Fest's artistic director said. "Zemeckis' cinema is, happily, both art and industry," he added.
