Speculations about Patrick Dempsey and Ellen Pompeo's alleged feud have been circulating ever since the actress said that "Grey's Anatomy" season 12 will be fine even without the actor's character.
Dr. Derek Shepherd, Patrick Dempsey's character, has been killed off the Shonda Rhimes hospital drama at the end of its last season.
"It's like, Annalise Keating carries the show, Olivia Pope carries the show," Ellen Pompeo told Entertainment Weekly as published in an earlier report. "But somehow, Meredith Grey needs someone."
"Why can't I just be the lead of the show the way Annalise and Olivia can? Why can't I be on that poster by myself," the actress added.
Ellen Pompeo referred to the other two Shonda Rhimes shows in the TGIT (Thank God It's Thursday) block - Annalise Keating, played by Viola Davis, on "How to Get Away With Murder," and Olivia Pope, played by Kerry Washington, in "Scandal."
Despite fans' disappointment over Patrick Dempsey being killed off the show, some believe that "Grey's Anatomy" could still be a great show even without Derek Shepherd.
"She has a point - Meredith Grey wouldn't have lasted for 12 seasons if she wasn't a survivor," Hollywood Life previously wrote.
Patrick Dempsey isn't one to get left out during the season 12 premiere of "Grey's Anatomy" last week.
On the same day as the season 12 premiere, Patrick Dempsey posted a photo on his official Facebook page about his new movie project - "Bridget Jones's Baby." According to Digital Spy, the actor will star alongside Renée Zellweger and Colin Firth in the upcoming movie.
"Nice to be working in England. Renee and Colin are an absolute joy to work with! A good couple of days rehearsing at Pinewood Studios. I really like it here!" Patrick captioned a photo of him in England.
Is this the former "Grey's Anatomy" actor trying to rub his new movie project and new co-stars in Ellen Pompeo's face?
It may not be clear right now as both Ellen Pompeo and Patrick Dempsey are yet to address rumors that they're not on good terms.
