Jung Il Woo is the latest k-drama actor to add the words “fashion designer” to his resume. He has been working with the online shopping mall Beaker to launch his own fashion brand we2. He launched the brand via Beaker because the mall’s owner is a good friend that he has known for 20 years. We2 features the actor’s fun witty inscriptions and designs on hats and t-shorts.
But his interest in fashion should not surprise anyone. His mom is an expert in textile design.
Jung is not the only k-drama actor who likes to style clothes. The most famous might be Jessica Jung, who left Girls Generation to focus on launching her fashion brand Blanc & Eclare. The Blanc & Eclare includes a range of luxury items, including t-shirts and sunglasses.
When interviewed by the publication Strait Times, she said, "Our brand has a classic aesthetic to it - it has a modern classic twist. I think we might stand out with the little details and not overdo it.”
The business is currently based in Hong Kong but she hopes to open a store in New York City.
Gong Hyo Jin is also a well-known fashionista. The actress helped produce a shoe collection for the brand pushBUTTON and Seucomma Bonnie. She also designed the LAP by Gong Hyo Jin line of feminine and funky clothes for the Los Angeles Project fashion shop. She is often seen at fashion shows and followed by fashion lovers for her own unique style.
Choi Kang Hee, who will soon be seen in the melodrama “Fancy Seduction,” also loves clothes. She filmed the cable program "Choi Kang Hee's Six Addictions" which focused on her shopping. The model, actress and disc jockey is frequently seen at Seoul Fashion Week and launched her own clothing brand Nowhere333.
In 2014 actor Park Hae Jin, who will soon appear in the drama “Cheese in the Trap,” launched V Modern, a fashion line in conjunction with Chinese fashion icon Mark Cheung. And the former model enjoyed the experience of staging his first show. In an interview with the Korean media outlet Korea Herlad, he described his excitement.
“I was trembling so much more backstage compared to the days when I was there as a model,” said Park. “As models started down the catwalk and the crowd went wild, I had this deeply moving experience.”
