Comedian Jim Carrey broke his silence over the passing of his ex-girlfriend, Cathriona White, who reportedly committed suicide after their second split.

In a statement, the 53-year-old "Liar Liar" actor said that he was "shocked and deeply saddened by the passing of my sweet Cathriona."

"She was a truly kind and delicate Irish flower, too sensitive for this soil, to whom loving and being loved was all that sparkled," the statement added. "My heart goes out to her family and friends and to everyone who loved and cared about her. We have all been hit with a lightning bolt."

According to initial reports, the death of Jim Carrey's ex-girlfriend Cathriona White was ruled as suicide although the police investigation is still ongoing.

The Los Angeles Police Department responded to a call from her two friends who checked in on her in her $1.1 million house in LA on Monday night. It was reported that the makeup artist has been renting the house for $5,000 a month.

TMZ has reported there was a suicide note addressed to Jim Carrey.

"Law enforcement tells us they believe she died from an overdose of drugs -- pills were next to her body. We're told 2 friends found Cathriona last night when they went to check on her," the report added. "53-year-old Carrey and White met in 2012, dated a few months and then split. They rekindled their relationship in May."

Jim Carrey's ex-girlfriend Cathriona White also hinted of a suicide when she took to Twitter on Sept. 24. to write, "Signing off Twitter, I hope I have been a light to my nearest and dearest."

Gardener Frank Nakama, 81, told Daily Mail that he last talked to the 28-year-old makeup artist last Friday and she was very polite. He also claimed that he hasn't seen Jim Carrey for a while.

"To be honest I did not know he was Jim Carrey," he said. "She didn't really speak to neighbors. I didn't ever see her with friends. She was quiet and reserved."
