TiVo launched the new TiVo Bolt, which supports 4K resolution with an HDMI 2.0 output. It also allows users to skip commercials. The new TiVo Bolt is all about giving viewers faster content with better viewing experience, said Market Watch. The company also intends to add its personalisation features in Bolt's mobile apps in coming months allowing users to get the most highly relevant content faster than ever.
The new Skip more in the TiVo Bolt allows users to skip commercial either as one block or one at a time. The process is different from Dish Network's Autohop where it does not delete the advertisements but just skips them. Skip mode will be functional only with recorded programs.
Additionally, it is available for specific networks. The list of networks has not been released and TiVo will release them later. It will include the top 20 most watched networks, said Consumer Reports. The Skip mode will not be functional on sports channels, reported Engadget.
Quick mode is another feature that lets users play their recorded shows up to 30 percent faster without syncing. It also supports the universal search capability along with various sources such as cable, over the air antenna broadcasts, video on demand and online video streaming. Users can easily record up to four shows simultaneously.
The new DVR has been aesthetically designed to look like a next-gen gaming console. The UI also has been overhauled with colourful icons that make searching through the menu easier, said Wired.com. The new TiVo Bolt will have two storage variants; 500GB which costs $300 and 1TB which costs $400 with models including one year TiVo service, said Yibada. It will be available in stores from October 04 but is currently available online on Amazon, Best Buy and TiVo online stores.
