What is it about CNBlue and the upcoming drama, "The Heirs?"
First CNBlue's leader and actor Jung Yong Hwa considered a role in the Heirs" alongside two-time co-star Park Shin Hye and actor Lee Min Ho. But then he declined, citing a busy band schedule, and is now considering another drama.
Earlier this month it was rumored that CNBlue's Lee Jong Hyun was being cast in the drama instead, but his agency FNC Entertainment denied those reports. They released a statement saying that they did not even get a casting offer.
Now it has been confirmed that Kang Min Hyuk is the CNBlue member who will be joining the cast. Kang, who appeared in "My Husband Got A Family" last year, will play the kind-hearted character Yoon Chan Young. Kang Min Hyuk also previously appeared in "Heartstrings" with Park Shin Hye.
A representative for the "Heirs" production team said that the role was difficult to cast and after some serious consideration, screenwriter Kim Eun Sook decided on Kang Min Hyuk. This preference toward casting members of CNBlue, real or imagined, might lead fans to suspect that the band is one of writer Kim Eun Sook's favorites.
Kang Min Hyuk is the last piece of the casting puzzle. With his addition, casting fro the drama is complete.
Kim Woo Bin also recently signed on to the drama's cast, supposedly to play Choi Young Do, the former best friend of Kim Tan, played by Lee Min Ho. The two were close friends until Kim Tan betrayed Choi Young Do by revealing personal information and Choi wanted revenge. It is now uncertain whether the love triangle in this drama will involve Lee Min Ho's "perfect" older brother, played by Choi Jin Hyuk, who recently appeared in "Gu Family Book," or the former best friend played by Kim Woo Bin, who appeared in "To The Beautiful You."
"The Heirs" has been described as a "Gossip Girl-style" drama about the lives and loves of students at a wealthy high school. The stellar cast also includes f(x)'s Krystal, ZE;A's Hyung Sik, and actor Kang Ha Neul.
These actors were eager to work with screenwriter Kim Eun Sook who penned the screenplays for the dramas "Secret Garden," "Lovers in Paris" and "Gentleman's Dignity."
The drama will air in October. If the casting news is already drawing this much attention, the drama promises to attract a large audience.
