‘Avatar’ Director James Cameron Announces Link To Dark Horse Comic Book Series

James Cameron is currently working on three possible sequels to his epic 2009-film "Avatar." While it may take a while before the release of "Avatar 2," fans of science-fiction film will get a chance to know the life of Pandora and Na'vi through the graphic novels.

At New York Comic-Con, director James Cameron made an appearance via video during the Dark Horse Comics panel. In the video, the "Titanic" director announced a long-term partnership with the Dark Horse publishers. James Cameron has been working with the Dark Horse team since the "Terminator" movies and now James Cameron has confirmed that Dark Horse will be making "Avatar" comic book series for the next decade.

"I'm excited that starting now, even before the release of the first sequel, Dark Horse Comics will be bringing you new adventures from Pandora covering the time before, during, and after the events of the original Avatar film," James said in the video.

From the past 27 years, Dark Horse has been associated with James Cameron films like "The Terminator," "Aliens," and "The Abyss." According to the director, Dark Horse will now be working directly with him and his team at Lightstorm Entertainment to bring the world new stories that will help them in expanding the world of Pandora.

According to Hollywood Reporter, Dark Horse Comics is also collaborating with "How to Train Your Dragon" director Dean DeBlois to adapt the movie into a possible graphic novel series. Similar to Avatar, the first book, "How to Train Your Dragon: The Serpent's Heir" will also release in 2016 and will begin right from the end of the second movie. At the New York Comic-Con, Dark Horse also announced "Aliens: Defiance," new comic series that will launch in April 2016.

"Avatar 2" is expected to release in December 2017, followed by "Avatar 3" in late 2018 and "Avatar 4" in 2019.
