Nicole Kidman who addressed the "Women In The World Summit'' said that she was broken and lonely like never before after her separation from her ex-husband Tom Cruise.
"The Grace of Monaco" star said that her breakup with Cruise made her feel lonely like never before in her speech at the
''Women In the World Summit'' at Cadogan Hall in London on Friday, October 9. Kidman was married to Cruise for ten years. They also adopted two children before their split in 2001, according to US Magazine.
Nicole Kidman "Was The Loneliest" Person Without Tom Cruise
"To be completely honest, I was running away from my life at that time. I wasn't able to handle the reality of my life," Kidman told the crowd. "As an actor, the wonderful thing is you can become something else for a time. Out of that came work that was applauded so that was an interesting thing for me," she added.
Kidman had a tough time after her split with Cruise in 2001. Though the actress bagged the most prestigious Oscar award for her role in the movie "The Hours" in 2003, she was way too far from relishing the huge honour. She noted that she felt lonelier than ever with the invaluable gold statue in hand.
"I embraced my own life, which took a number of years...That culminated in winning an Oscar and that caused an epiphany - this is not the answer," said Kidman, reported Mail Online. "I was sitting in the Beverly Hills Hotel with a gold statue and I was the loneliest I'd ever been. I was jolted out of the idea that 'this is gonna heal me,'" added the actress.
Nicole Kidman Found Her Love In Keith Urban
The Oscar award winner added that she then "slowed down" the pace of her life. She indulged herself in reading and talking to people for five to six years before she met Keith Urban. Kidman noted that she found her love in Urban and is happily married to him for about a decade now and has two daughters Sunday, 7, and Faith, 4. Faith is her surrogate child.
