American actress Jennifer Lawrence, a victim of the recent private photo leak, Fappening, debacle articulated her annoyance on the prevailing sexism in Hollywood. She also alluded to the difference in pay of male and female stars.

She wrote an essay, "Why Do I Make Less Than My Co-Stars" for Lena Dunham's site, speaking about the fact that she is paid lesser than her male co-stars.

Lawrence, 25, found about the pay discrimination when emails from Sony Pictures Entertainment were hacked in 2014. The leaked emails released the actors' pay publicly and thus, have been in headlines since then.

In her essay, Lawrence gave her reasons for not asking for higher pay.

"I didn't want to seem 'difficult' or 'spoiled,'" reported Oscar winning actress Lawrence, according to BBC. "I didn't get mad at Sony, I got mad at myself. I failed as a negotiator because I gave up early," she added.

"I would be lying if I didn't say there was an element of wanting to be liked that influenced my decision to close the deal without a real fight."

Owing to Sony's system hacking, one of the major disclosures included emails from Sony's Chairperson Amy Pascal claiming that Jennifer Lawrence and Amy Adams were paid less than their other "American Hustle" male co-stars.

"If you think that you only deserve a certain amount and that's not correct, it's about changing that mind-set and sticking up for yourself the way," said Lawrence's co-star in the movie "American Hustle" Bradley Cooper in response to her disclosure, reported ABC News.
