Ji Chang Wook will debut as a vocalist in China, this November. On October 30, Glorious Entertainment confirmed reports by Chinese media that the rising Hallyu star was preparing for the release of an upcoming album and tour.
"Ji Chang Wook is releasing an album in China in mid-November and successfully finished a press conference on October 29," said a representative for Glorious Entertainment, in a statement published by Donga.
The actor and musical theater star will work with the mainland Chinese company, Bravo Music, an agency that is renown for its excellence in production, in the region.
Glorious Entertainment spoke positively about the relationship established with Bravo Music.
"We have come to feel warmth and sincerity of Bravo's staff, through our meetings," said a spokesperson for Glorious Entertainment.
The representative went on to praise Bravo Music for their communication skills, enthusiastically noting the willingness of the Glorious to collaborate with the company on the co-production.
While details regarding the musical composition of the album have yet to be announced, Glorious confirmed that the star would embark on a five-city tour throughout China to support the release.
Ji Chang Wook experienced explosive popularity following the success of his lauded K-Drama, "Healer." After the completion of the action series, he focused on bolstering his fan base in China, particularly concentrating on mainland audiences and fans in the Taiwanese market.
Through appearances on variety shows like "Happy Camp," he raised his profile and landed key endorsement opportunities.
The announcement of his solo album follows the launch of an ad campaign for the menswear company, AMH, where he appears as a spokesmodel alongside "Blood" star, Ahn Jae Hyun.
Ji is noted for his transition from musical theater to dramatic roles in television. His capacity as a vocalist were previously demonstrated during his appearance in musicals including "Jack the Ripper" and "The Days," as well as his contributions to his K-Drama original soundtracks.
