Choi Si Won recently watched some drama with a few of his fans. On November 4, 200 of his fans showed up to see Episode 14 of "She Was Pretty" at Seoul's Ilgi Art Hall.
It was an important episode for Choi's character, the charismatic fashion writer Kim Shin Hyuk. Episode 14 is the episode in which his true personality is revealed. Kim Shin Hyuk is not the person everyone thinks he is and the fans who got their first glance at the real Kim Shin Hyuk may have been surprised.
The screening was a first come, first served special event and the room was packed in minutes, despite the slim one-day advance notice. The event was staged in response to a promise that the Super Junior singer and actor made when he appeared on Naver's V app in October.
"If the drama surpasses 20 percent in viewer rating," said Choi. "I will watch the drama with the fans."
The drama did not quite make the hoped for 20 percent in the ratings but it came very close, earning 19.8 percent in the Seoul area for Episode 13. The drama has done well since the start. Even though Choi plays the second lead in this romantic comedy, his character turned out to be a fan favorite. The character was so appealng that he prompted a much-publicized case of second lead syndrome among viewers.
Choi watched the episode with his fans, thanked them for their support and took some photos with them. It may be his last chance to see fans as he enlists for his two-year mandatory military service later in November.
Choi's previous drama roles include "Athena: Goddess of War," "The King of Dramas," and "Masked Prosecutor."
Not only is Choi's drama doing well but November 6 will offer him another reason to celebrate. Super Junior celebrates its tenth anniversary that day.
