Although they are getting married in two weeks, there was a while where actor Ji Sung and his girlfriend Lee Bo Young did not get to see much of each other. That's when the breakup rumors started.
Such rumors hurt him, he said, but they did not weaken the relationship. Unfortunately, once a kdrama couple admits they are dating, every detail of their relationship is up for discussion. And that generates a lot of unfounded rumors.
At a recent press conference for his new KBS drama "Secrets," Ji Sung said that he heard a new rumor every year since the couple began dating in 2007.
"Despite the breakup rumors we were going on dates," he said.
There was little they could do once the rumors started, except not to let it create any problems between them.
"We always trusted each other," said Ji Sung, who starred in "Protect the Boss," "All In" and "Save The Last Dance For Me." "There were times that we were so busy that we could not pay the right amount of attention to each other, but we both understood that it was nothing personal. I am thankful for what we have now even though many people around us have not always been supportive of our relationship. There were difficult times but now I am happy that I am getting married. My real life starts now."
The couple met on the set of the 2004 SBS drama "Save The Last Dance For Me." In that drama, Lee Bo Young lost Ji Sung to his leading lady, played by Eugene. After the series was over, they began to date. They did not admit they were dating until 2007 when a photographer caught them. They decided to marry this spring but only announced their wedding plans after the end of her successful drama "I Hear Your Voice," because Lee Bo Young did not want to distract viewers from the ending of the popular series.
"Honestly, I wanted to get married earlier," said Ji Sung. "In my mind, I was already married to her."
"Secrets" will air on Sept. 25. In "Secrets" Ji Sung will play a second-generation chaebol who has it all but is eager for revenge. His co-stars are Hwang Jung Eum, Bae Soo Bin and Lee Da Hee.
The couple will marry on Sept. 27 at the W Seoul Walkerhill Hotel. Their 200 guests will include such celebrities as Yoon Sang Hyun, Gu Hye Sun and Lee Jong Suk.
