Nina Dobrev, Bulgarian Canadian actress and model, has been shortlisted for the female lead role in the big screen version of the TV series "Baywatch" alongside Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson and Zac Efron, according to Deadline. The other names shortlisted for the lead role are Alexandra Daddario, a "True Detective" star, Alexandra Shipp," X-Men: Apocalypse" actress , Shelley Henning, "Teen Wolf" star, Denyse Tontz," Big Time Rush" actress, and Ashley Benson, actress in "Pretty Little Liars."

The ChristianPost.com said the "Vampire Diaries" actress had recently quit from the series in order to do movies and work with various respected directors. She expressed her desire to do more content based roles and challenge herself as an actress.

The details of the film are yet to be finalized, but as the TV series based on the story of life guards in California, is expected to be set on the Californian beaches with lead male roles fighting with wicked Oil Tycoon.

Seth Gordon, American film director and producer, has been confirmed to do film direction and "San Andreas" actor, Dwayne Johnson will produce the famous TV series along with his partner Dany Garcia under "Seven Bucks" production house, according to The Mirror.

When the TV series "Baywatch" star Pamela Anderson was asked on how she felt about the remake of the series, she said, "It's not going to happen, dude. Good luck with that." Pamela also expressed her doubts over the future of remake as according to her the film's title looks good only on television, quoted ChristianPost.com

There is only one vacancy for the female lead role and the competition is tough, as all the actresses shortlisted carry a huge baggage of talent with them.The movie is expected to begin production in early 2016 and hoping for a summer 2017 grand release, but no official release date has been announced yet, quoted IBTimes.com.
