Netflix, online streaming service company, is set to remake the adventure sci-fi series "Lost in Space," according to The Entertainment Weekly. The television series which was first aired in 1960's was based on the concept of space exploration. The outer space series which broadcasted three seasons during its last stint is all set to make a comeback via Netflix.

According to Comic Book, "Lost in Space" series, launched in the early 60's, was a fiction story where "Robinson" family was sent to colonize space for almost six years. The story revolved around the family and their adventure in the alien world. As it happened the villain from the series tampered with the navigation system of the space shuttle and everyone in it lost their lives except for the robots who saved the youngest child in the accident, which promised a plot for the other season.

The revised script for the adventure series is currently being drafted by Matt Sazama and Burk Sharpless, who are the writers of "Dracula Untold," a Hollywood horror film. The show will be produced and hopefully directed by Neil Marshall, Game of Thrones Fame, reported The Verge. Kevin Burns, executive producer of Netflix, expressed his excitement to recreate the television series which is one of his dream projects.

"We've obviously been developing Lost in Space for a long time, and we've had a couple of false starts. Just speaking for myself, we really felt that we had learned a lot from not only what we did, but what other people did and did wrong," said Burns, as quoted by The Deadline. He had previously worked on the script of the series until the death of Sheila Allen, widower of Irwin Allen, who was the then producer and director the fiction series.

The science fiction series celebrated its Golden Jubilee this year in September and on the occasion, all the 83 episodes of the series were digitallly re-launched. The instalments of the series were totally edited digitally and were released via Blu-ray Disc, reported The Entertainment Weekly.
