Rumors have it that Apple's iPhone 7 will not have the standard 3.5 mm headphone jack in it.
Ever since iPhone 6 and 6S plus hit the market, speculations are rife on iPhone 7 which is slated to be released in September 2016. If the rumors are to be believed, the iPhone 7 wouldn't feature a standard 3.5mm headphone jack, according to USA Today.
The latest update on iPhone was obtained from Japanese blog Macotakara which has been accurate earlier in revealing that iPhone 6S plus would be launched as a 5.5 inch version while iPhone 6 would be a 4.7 inch version. Apple would allegedly replace the regular Ear pods with ones that are compatible with the device's lighting port.
Bluetooth wireless headphones which are becoming more popular among users recent days could be used in iPhone 7 just like its older versions. The traditional headphones could be used in iPhone 7 with the support of an adapter that fits into the phone's lighting port.
"Supplied Ear Pods will equip a Lightning connector, which means a DA (Digital to Analog) converter is required. The DA will be built in the Lightning connector without sacrificing the size, according to the source," reported Macotakara.
The rumors are that the idea of modifying the headphone jack is to slim down the iPhone 7 furthermore to give the device a sleek look. Apple is known for slimming down the device with every new launch and hence headphones replacement and sleek device rumors could be true to large extent.
"Third party headphone manufacturers need to prepare a headset jack - Lightning converter, however, supplying or selling separately a Lightning cable that includes a DA converter can solve the issue, in case of detachable cable headphones. In case of Bluetooth headphones, connectivity issues explained above will not happen," noted Macotakara.
