Swiss Tennis legends, Roger Federer and Martina Hingis are rumored to play together in the upcoming Rio Olympics, according to Times Live.

The duo is rumored to pair for the mixed doubles in the international sports event competition. No official confirmation has been given by either Roger or Martina, but rumors suggest that the tennis stars will play at the next Olympics event together.

International Business Times reported that a national paper in Switzerland, Le Matin Dimanche, published an article stating that Roger had accepted the offer of pairing up with Hingis and gave way to the rumors. The teaming up of Roger Federer and Martina Hingis will not be a first time as the duo had played the mixed doubles in 2001 and won the Hopman Cup.

Roger and Martina had earlier considered of teaming up in 2012 Olympics, but due to Hingis' lack of confidence to play the doubles event, they dropped off the idea.

Federer had earlier discussed receiving a reunion invite from Hingis. Roger also said that he will need some time to decide before participating in the Rio Olympics.

"The problem is, I don't know how I play singles, doubles and mixed within an eight-day period," said Roger, reported New Zealand Herald. "I'll obviously give it some thought because I have a lot of respect for Martina."

The newspaper also claimed that Stanislas Wawrinka has been contacted by Hingis to team with her in the Rio Olympics event. It also stated that Federer is gearing up for the upcoming sports event and ready to participate in all tennis competitions like the men's singles, mixed doubles and men's doubles, reported Business Standard.

Other rumors suggest that Roger will pair up with Stanislas to play the men's doubles. Both had earlier teamed up in 2008 Beijing Olympics and 2014 Davis Cup championship, reported Tennis Now.

Telegraph Times reported that Hingis is set to play the women's doubles with Belinda Bencic, tennis player in the Rio Olympics. Earlier this year, Martina won the mixed doubles title in the Australian Open, US Open and Wimbledon pairing with Leander Paes.

Roger had bagged six men's singles title in 2015 winning championships which are Brisbane International, Dubai Tennis Championship, Istanbul Open, Halle Open, Cincinnati Masters and Swiss Indoors.
